Lg Optimus 3d - Very Stylish With Brilliant Technology

It looks as though 2011 is a good year for the mobile phone division of LG as it is the year that they made a number of firsts in industry development. They were the first to introduce a dual core smartphone in the form of the Optimus 2X and now they are also the first to introduce a 3D smartphone in the form of the LG Optimus 3D.

The Optimus 3D features a gorgeous 4.3" WVGA LCD screen that employs parallax technology to produce a 3D effect. This parallax design tricks the eyes into producing a third dimension by causing each eye to see slightly disparate images. The benefit of the system is that it does not require glasses but a major drawback is that its effect is restricted to certain viewing angles. This is the same drawback experienced by the Nintendo 3DS and the HTC EVO 3D and is currently the limitations of handheld 3D technology and not really a flaw produced by this particular phone.

The Optimus 3D provides other 3D goodies thanks to its fantastic dual 5 megapixel cameras. These allow the capturing of stereoscopic images as well as 720p 3D videos. You can also take standard 2D photos and capture 2D videos at a higher 1080p video quality. The camera includes some great features like an LED flash and geo-tagging as well. On top of this a secondary camera is included that can be used for video calling, although 3D video calling is not an option.

The Optimus 3D runs on Android Froyo although it will be updated to Android Gingerbread within the near future. This is combined with LG's 3D interface that provides some excellent support for social networks and access to Android Market. Threaded SMS is included, along with email and instant messaging which all serve to make the Optimus 3D an excellent messaging device.

Aside from the 3D features the Optimus provides plenty of other entertainment value including games and apps, standard music and video as well as online video content from services such as YouTube. A stereo FM radio is also included for additional musical features.

The Optimus is a great phone for all forms of online endeavours with fantastic 3G and Wi-Fi connections on offer. The larger screen is well suited to viewing web pages and the phone also comes with Adobe Flash support. With DLNA Wi-Fi and also an HDMI port you can stream video content to your home TV, along with 3D video content to a 3D television.

This is the first instance of 3D making its way into the world of smartphones and there are already people accusing it of being just a gimmick. People also said the same thing of music support and phone cameras and now they have become the standard for most contemporary smartphones. The 3D parallax technology is in its infancy there is no denying and there are some drawbacks that need to be ironed out in future devices. However, for anyone wanting to be one of the first to join in with the latest smartphone craze then the Optimus 3D will be the phone you are looking for.
