Lexus Used Cars- The Is300 As A Used Vehicle

By:

Lexus used cars like there IS300 was the automakers entry level sedan to their fine fleet of luxurious vehicles. This vehicle had already been in Japan and Europe since 1999 but selling under the Toyota brand as the Altezza. Since this vehicle was selling so widely popular in both Japan and Europe, Toyota in 2001 decided to start producing this exact same model but as the Lexus IS300 for the North American market. The IS300 competes against some of the best known models like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4. Being apart of a very competitive segment of the auto industry, my research will be on the Lexus IS300 as a used vehicle to look at.

I looked at models from 2004 and found the Interior to have a sporty design to it. It had a cool three spoke steering wheel with chrome rubber dotted pedals. The shift knob was chrome as well and this gave it a real sports car feel to it. It comes standard with ABS brakes, side curtain air bags, traction control, premium eight speaker auto system, six disc CD player, security system and a remote entry just to name a few.

I found several fuel statistics for the different transmissions that the IS300 has to offer. The automatic transmission has a fuel rating of 13-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 8.8-litres, per 100km for highway driving. The manual transmission has a fuel rating of 13.1-litres, per 100km, for city driving and 8.6-litres, per 100km for highway driving. When you compare these fuel statistics to its competition, you find that the Lexus IS300 has a higher fuel rating than the cars it competes against.

The IS300 has a highly technical engine. It comes with an inline six-cylinder, 3.0-litre engine and this produces 215 horsepower. It comes in either an automatic transmission or a manual transmission and has the option to have manual shifters on the steering wheel. The IS300 also comes in a sporty wagon as well.

Lets look at some of the pros and cons of the Lexus IS300 as used vehicle:

1-There is a problem with early models that have bad wiring in the audio system and this causes the battery to drain when parked.
2-Models from 2003 to 2004 have problems with the clutch being too weak for the manual transmission.
3-Models from 2002 to 2005 got a good rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, for frontal and a side crash test done to it.

I hope this helps if you are looking at Lexus used cars like the IS300.
