Lexus Dealerships Seek To Reassure Customers

By:

For Lexus dealerships 2010 is guaranteed to be a big year. On the one hand they've been gearing up for a big push, but on the other hand they have to deal with the fallout from the Toyota recall. While their cars have been largely unaffected, they still run the risk of being tarred with the same brush. The question for consumers have to ask is this: is now a good time to buy?

The first question they have to ask is can they trust the brand. After all, it is a part of Toyota. The cars share the same DNA, so if something goes wrong with one then the other should be affected right? Furthermore the recall affects the perception of bulletproof reliability that have made Japanese cars so popular over the years.

Lexus dealerships are at pains to point out that their cars should not suffer the same problems. So far only one model, the HS250h, has been affected. Others however use different parts from a different supplier so should remain free from the issues that struck Toyota. Even so there is a possibility that some Lexus dealerships may be forced to offer bargains in order to get customers through the door.

In any event this is the moment American and German manufacturers have been waiting for. Ford, in particular sees this as an opportunity to challenge the position of Toyota. Considering US cars have often been ridiculed for their tendency to break at the first opportunity, they can be forgiven for being a little smug. We may see a big push from dealerships in the near future to divert customers away from the Japanese brands.

BMW may be heaving a sigh of relieve. They were looking over their shoulder at the advance of this pretender from Japan to their luxury crown. With a range of impressive models due to be released later this year including a fantastic looking super car it really is trying to make moves in the market, but if they hope the recall will derail the advance they might be disappointed.

So far sales among non recalled Toyotas remains high. Despite all the problems both brands seem to be retaining their own good reputations. The car in front will probably still be a Toyota, so it is unlikely that Lexus dealerships will be slashing prices any time soon. If you do have issues, though, the best bet is to contact them directly and ask them as many questions as you can. The more information you get the more you'll be reassured.
