By:

It is a mark that continues to be felt strongly in the city's modern musicians, composers and artists, a tradition of making beautiful music that has reached other countries in Europe.

Classical Music and Its Composers; Going back to the world-famous classical composers who have influenced Prague music and have been enamored of the city's allures, we can count Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Antonio Vivaldi and Frederic Chopin in this category. Although they may not have been Czech in blood, their inspirations for many of their works are undoubtedly the Czech people.

There are many concert halls in Prague that cater to aficionados of classical music, of which the Smetana Concert Hall and the Dvorak Concert Hall are the most notable. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra call these concert halls their homes, respectively. Other venues of note include the Spanish Synagogue, the St. George's Basilica and the National Museum, to name just a few. Indeed, the people of Prague know and love their classical music!

Music Festivals; The Prague people also know how to party in the streets, sort of, as much as they love their manners in concert halls. There are two music festivals in the city that draws in huge numbers of visitors near and far for the opportunity to enjoy the city in a new way - the Spring and the Autumn Music Festivals.

On one hand, the Prague Spring Music Festival boasts of classical and folk music being played in many concert halls, historic buildings and even commercial establishments. Started in 1946, it has since become a must-do in the city alongside its famous historical landmarks and tourist attractions. On the other hand, the Prague Autumn Music Festival might be smaller in scope than its spring counterpart but it still boasts of the finest shows from the finest talents on this side of Europe. The musical fare is varied, too, ranging from Hollywood music and Mexican numbers to folk and classical beats.

Dance and Music Clubs; And of course, Prague being the modern city set amidst medieval buildings and skyscrapers that it is, visitors will also find that modern dance and music is alive, well and kicking in the many dance and music clubs. In these venues, dancing to pop, rock, dance and other contemporary music till the wee hours of morning is not uncommon.

There are also pubs and clubs where relaxing with friends over good food, good conversation and good music is the order of the day. Choose from any of the jazz clubs in the city, sit back and relax.
Truly, no matter what your concept of a party is, you are sure to find it in Prague. Just make sure that you already have your holiday apartment reservations, which was booked online, in the bag as it can get really crowded during the music festivals.
