Led Light Bulbs Are Now Slowly Being Used In The Common Household

By:

LED light bulbs are now gaining widespread acceptance since the occurring phase-out of incandescent bulbs happening all over the world. If you"re planning to buy all the incandescent bulbs that you can get your hands on please, don"t panic.

LED light bulbs are created as an improvement on energy-saving bulbs and lighting equipments. The bulbs were basically made to help you conserve energy while making sure your home is well lit. Lighting is the reason for 25% of a home owner"s monthly electric bill, says American Lighting Association. Starting January 1, 2012, all light bulbs in the US must pass and meet the latest energy-efficiency guidelines recognized in 2007 by the EISA (Energy Independence and Security Act).

The changes will happen in phases. Beginning with the 100-watt bulb, the new guidelines will require the 100-watt bulb to use 72 watts or less of energy, while maintaining the same brightness. Between the span of three years, 75-, 60-, 40 watt bulbs shall be replaced with bulbs that would be more energy efficient.

Joseph Rey-Barreau, a light designer and architect said that people are already using CFLs or compact fluorescent lamps, and that in 2010 a bigger number of CFLs has been bought then the usual incandescent bulb. Bulbs labeled as having halogen components are selling like hotcakes since these kinds of bulbs are a lot more energy-saving.

Ms. Dickinson, a consumer, said that other people do not like the look of CFL lights, so they are looking for fixtures having frosted glass or something that can cover up the bulb. LED bubs give out a warmer light then the CFL lights but tend to be a little more pricy. The usual price to replace a 50 watt bulb is around $30-$40. However, LED bulbs can last longer than CFL so you are in a way, saving more in the long run. Both bulbs light colors can vary from warm to cool so you have a choice on which one you would prefer. LED lights are good to use for lighting under cabinets since its cool to the touch she also added.

Using a 16-watt LED lamp instead of her old 65-watt bulb really made a difference in energy-saving, says Mr.Gombof, another consumer. The price for the bulbs are still expensive, at around 60$ for a 16-watt bulb, but it was more expensive before, it was around 100$. Basically, it"s a supply-and-demand concern. Once they are being more frequently used, there should be a big change on the prices.
