Learning About And From Sacred Healing Systems

By:

It is a common misconception that in order to learn about sacred healing systems that you must choose from ancient traditions of healing. While it is true that there are many healing systems that have been around for a very, very long time, these venerable traditions are not the only ones available to us! Human evolution continues to occur and so our ability to heal ourselves also matures, grows, and expands. The healing star system brought to us by Derek O'Neill, often referred to as the Rising Star Healing System is one such example of a healing system that has been given to us from the Divine more recently, in our lifetime.

Many of these new healing systems do, of course, stand on the shoulders of those systems that came before it. There is always great value in being well-versed in the many ways in which people have learned about healing over the course of history and in different parts of the world. Two of the longest standing medical traditions we have today are Traditional Chinese Medicine or TCM and Ayurveda. There are many similarities between the two- the use of herbs and diet for healing, the awareness of heating and cooling in the body (and as affected by what we intake), closely related physical fitness traditions with spiritual components (Qi Gong/Tai Chi and Yoga) and so on. Obviously, there are also differences in these traditions, such as Ayurveda's doshas and TCM's acupuncture. However, at the same time, many of the different healing systems do share some basic ideas and components.

Well-being is defined differently by some traditions of healing. In a western allopathic setting, wellness might be considered the absence of disease- which focuses not on what it means to be well, but really on what it means to be unwell. A different definition of wellness is held by sacred healing systems that aim for a state in which all aspects of oneself are in balance. The result of this would likely be a lack of illness too; but the focus here is on what is well- the balance in each system, and them working together. The thought and belief patterns behind each of these can really make quite the difference, and it behooves one to consider carefully the language they use- it matters more than we might think.

In learning about sacred healing systems, one is often gifted the ability to look at the body, mind and spirit as a whole and with new eyes, seeing the way in which every aspect of our being is interconnected. And by doing so, this has an effect on all the other parts of this complex system. The end result should be whole health and well-being and a deeper understanding of ourselves and how we truly are all connected.
