The growing popularity of the laminate flooring can be well understood because of its look and feel. It is much less costly than hardwood but at the same time it looks as good as hardwood. There is an environment friendly coating of resin that gives a very nice shine and spark to the floor. The range of colors in which laminate flooring are available are too many. So you can pamper yourself with the best options that suit your budget and your beautiful home at the same time. In this article we will share some of the tips for installing a laminate floor in your own house.

Preparation of the floor is a must before we install a laminate floor. Basically the concept of a laminate floor is similar to a floating floor, the planks of the floor are definitely interconnected but then they are not attached to the base of the floor like the way we get to achieve in our walls.

When I mentioned that you need to prepare the floor I meant that you have to get rid of your old flooring, if your floor had a carpet on the surface then make sure that you have it removed along with its padding. Check out the edges and corners so that no strings attaching the pads are left behind with this. In case you find something or the other with it then make sure you have it removed completely. You must vacuum clean the whole floor before you start the process of installation.

You must get rid of bumps by making use of plywood and if you do not fill some of the spaces with mortars then you will find uneven dipping over the surface after the installation of the floor. Try and maintain the surface as smooth as possible so that there are no dipping involved in it.

A laminate flooring underlayment is required for the purpose of installing the laminate floors, usually the underlayment is wooden based or gypsum based. Since the gypsum underlayment has the property to deal with moisture intake and has better durability than the wooden one, it is more popular.

During changes of weather do not be shocked if you find your planks are expanding and contracting accordingly. It is best to have a gap of an inch incorporated as clearance space. Without such gaps being provided regularly chances are that your laminate floor planks get distorted during change of seasons.

Usually it is quite a task to have the area around a pipe laminated. If not done carefully then the look of the place will get spoilt no matter how well you had fixed it in the rest of the area. For this measure the circumference of the pipe accurately now you need to cut a hole on the surface of the laminate plank which will have a diameter half an inch more than diameter of the pipe. Cut this into two pieces and place it around the pipe with glue and your work will be done.
