Laura Robson Wimbledon Girls Championship Winner

By: Ally White

Wimbledon's new girl winner is Laura Robson; Robson had to overcame major challenges throughout the tournament defeating players who were bigger, stronger, older and even more experience in order to grasp the grass court title. This young tennis player imposed herself to the number one and number three seeded in the competition.

Despite her amazing performance Robson's game requires constant practice as it is long process to become the best in the standings. This was certainly her breakthrough for the British public and media and she will now be part of national and international competitions. Many expect Robson to win several of the bigger junior tournaments and that within a year or two as most she could do her transition to the WTA Tour.

Now that she has become material to work on her trainers will concentrate on aspects such her weaknesses and strengthens which had not been fully spotted previous to Wimbledon. Also, some other coaches will monitor her games and moves as she is now in the spotlight for her tennis rivals.

Laura has mentioned that this win is a very important step in her career but she also knows what her objectives and goals are.... "I don't think my life is going to change very much," she said after Saturday's final. Next week I'll be back to my training and I want to play more junior tournaments, but I'll be adding some senior tournaments too. But I still have to do my homework. It's math' this weekend, algebra - which is not nice."

On the other hand; some tennis analysts are already estimating Robson's career future for an instance the Lawn Tennis Association has shifted the attention on how well Robson will do at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton and her managing company is already considering a profitable future in advertising and sports products.

Since Martina Hingins won the girl's at Wimbledon at a very early age Robson is now known as the youngest player to win the competition. Hingins has been training Robson for some time now and Robson's admiration for her trainer and friend has led them both to become a real team as Robson hopes to have a similar career as Hingis did.

One aspect that could be against Robson is the fact that she is very young and her game is likely to change and either progress or diminishes. Even though she has proved mental strength and serenity, Robson is at a period in life that is not related with emotional stability. Analysts, fans and media truly keep their hopes that she will continue to focus in her game and not be shifted otherwise due to the media attention she will now receive.

Her training will continue and despite being a very talented junior tennis player the most difficult task is still ahead of her as it could all disappear in a mash. Some of the major WTA stars as Hingis, Mauresmo, Clijsters and Ivanovic began to make their way in a similar way and today they have all made history in the tennis world.

For her young age Laura is very aware that her latest accomplishment at Wimbledon does not mean her future will continue to shine. "This is the first tournament I've won this year," she pointed out. "It just happens to be Wimbledon, but I have to keep working." Certainly we will see more and more of this young lady as she continues to escalade in the Female Tour in the upcoming years.
