Last Minutes Doubts

I did not know how this happened. How could I have allowed this to happen, of all people, to myself? My mouth dry, sweat dewing my brow, I looked up towards the high cathedral ceiling and tried to make sense out of the haphazard stained glass window panes just as I attempted to make sense of my mental commotion.

Could I run away? I did not think so. The reason why was sitting at the front pew, wearing her new red dress, smiling widely and bending her silvery black head to chat unintelligibly to her neighbor. Excited, happy, and not a little exhausted with what all these Herculean efforts to arrange her eldest son's wedding; my mother.

He gave a woeful groan and that made the priest notice him. His brother also teased him and how he wished that it was his wedding not his!

Young people would rather not be tied up in marriage when they are still below 40. They don't regard it as important as their elders do. For them, as long as they are in a relationship, they can plan to settle down later when they decided to slow down in life. Their parents however do not share the same view as these young people. They will tend to push them into tying the knot. More often than not, the youngsters have to go along with their parent's decision.

Until he got married and have kids of his own; his mom won't stop pestering him. Other than wanting to see his mother happy, he just wanted her to stop pestering him.

Having a wedding require a lot of cautious and cash. Waiting the last minute to back off would be a complete waste. Even when the bits and pieces does not seem important to him, they are the one he ended up exhausting his energy on. He never imagined that shopping for wedding would parallel shopping for a whole decade. Even deciding about the details on the wedding cake alone took ages. He could not even comprehend the point of having a wedding cake with complicated designs and things nevermind deciding for a mere topping. The photo-taking session which was supposed to be fun in any other events was extremely tiresome. In this whole wedding business, even a cake can get on his nerve.

It is often argued that there should be less fuss over preparing such detail matter into the ceremony. No one would give a hoot if the cake top was adorned with little figurines of bride and groom or doves. These things mean nothing after the cake is consumed. Although this is true, imagine the opposite, a topless cake, this will get the guest wondering why.

Of course when you think about it, it seems reasonable to actually pay attention to every detail.

What a woman will do to look fabulous on her big day he could not believe. He thought that she must be out of her mind when he saw the bill from the bridal boutique.

Wedding dresses are made to be worn once in a lifetime for a girl. But the price would sometime be equal to how much you would spend for clothes in a year or maybe two which is absurd

As the music played, signaling the arrival of the bride, the groom snapped back into reality.

The bride stood at the entrance of the church, everything he had thought about vanished from his mind. His heart started to beat high-speed.

He couldn't take his eyes off her. She walked down the aisle confidently and beaming with beauty. At that point he felt that he was the luckiest man on earth.

The man saw that the woman he was about to marry was calm moreover her eyes told him everything. She was confident that he was the one for her and she was going to share her life with no other. He quickly understood the whole thing then. It was all on him now.

The bride and the groom joins hand as signifying their eternal pledge.

When they were ready to be married, the man made a secret oath in his heart to cherish the marriage with honesty and respect. There will be days when they are in the blue, but knowing that they have each other all through the way will give him a comfort. They are now ready to start their own family

I could not believe my good fortune. I loved her, and she loved me, and that was all that mattered.

The words in my heart came clear and confident, I do.
