Las Vegas Construction Work Has Been Helping Nevada Progress For Decades

When seen from a historical perspective, it is easy to see that Las Vegas construction work has been going on for decades and helping the community grow and progress into the flourishing community and tourist attraction it is today and will continue to be.

Building up the city is not a new event. While Native Americans had been living in the area for a long time, it became a Fort in 1855 and has continued to grow and thrive since then.

When one thinks of Sin City, they often don't realize that it was originally founded in 1855 by Mormon pioneers. They set up a fort in Las Vegas as a half way point between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Now a remainder of the fort is still visible and a LDS Temple looks over the valley. Later a railway was constructed to connect the two cities and Vegas was established as a railway town.

While it wasn't an official town until 1905, it grew fast. This small town had unique laws which helped it grow in popularity. Divorce laws made quick marriage and divorce a simple process and gambling was officially legalized in 1931.

After World War II ended, lavishly decorated resorts, hotels and casinos were set up and Vegas took its place leading the entertainment industry. With military and defense jobs no longer as necessary, tourism became the leading industry and employer in the city.

To meet the needs of all the incoming tourists, Las Vegas has been constructing new buildings for years. Most are brightly lit to fit with the theme. Even fast food joints have bright Las Vegas lights around their signs. While some people may come to enjoy the sunshine in the desert, most people visit Vegas for the entertainment.

There are constantly shows featuring the latest and greatest stars in the entertainment industry. New performance venues are being built frequently to keep up with the demand. With over 500 churches and synagogues, Vegas is also a very popular place for marriages, especially ones that are decided on the spur of the moment.

Of course when people think of Vegas, they not only think of the bright lights and fancy shows, they also think of the gambling potential. There have even been movies made focusing on the money made by gambling in Vegas. The winners of these games of chance are able to go and spend their money in some of the lavish stores nearby while the losers take their chances playing another round in hopes to make money quickly.

While navigating around Las Vegas construction work may not be much fun, the finished product will be worth the wait. This process has been going on for decades and Nevada will continue to bring popular entertainment to all who want to vacation there.
