Lace Front Wig Preparing your attitude for Business Success.

INTRODUCTION By the Author Diane Shawe Author of 'What they don't tell you about getting started in the hair extension business'

Diane decided to write a book on 'getting started in the hair extension business' because she was always asked by her student about business plans, marketing, advertising along with a host of other subject.

"Understanding and listening to people along with research and preparation can often help you avoid some pitfalls" states Diane. she goes on to say that "I have not got all the answers because believe it or not surprises are still around the corner. I've made plenty of mistakes and learned from them and I know that many people can now benefit from my experience and knowledge. That's why I decided to jot down a few pointers based on my experience and previous employments. I have read many self motivation books, different types of business hypes, marketing strategy etc. Throughout all of this I have come to one final conclusion; it all depends on your own self drive, organisational skill, sticking power and the ability to be flexible without eroding your moral and ethical code".

Her are some extracts from her current ebook which can be purchased online for £6.99. www.ukacademyofbeauty.com.

Preparing your attitude for Success

Understand the power of your "attitude" Keith Harrell states that attitude is everything! Turning your attitude into action is the first steps to helping you tap into the power of your attitude and keep you grounded. Your attitude can impact on everything you do.

In his book 'Attitude is Everything' he lists nine steps. I will only summarise them for now but I suggest you invest in a copy of his book as soon as possible.

1. Understand the power of your attitude: Your attitude is a powerful tool for positive action. 2. Chose to take control of your life: To transform your attitude into action, you must accept responsibility for what goes on inside your mind by monitoring your internal dialogue. 3. Identify through self awareness the attitude that hold you back or propel you forward: By practicing self awareness, you will learn the three types of bad attitude. 4. Reframe your bad attitude: An attitude of anger can be transformed into an attitude of gratitude and forgiveness by shifting your perspective. 5. Find your purpose and passion: Once you have determined what has been holding you back, it's time t look ahead and analyse where you want to go. Understand it is important to have a personal vision, this is critical to achieving success. 6. Be pre-active: When challenging circumstances threaten to provoke negative attitude that can hinder and throw you off course, developing a proactive approach to life will better prepare you to handle the hazards you face not just in your business but life. 7. Discover. how to motivate yourself: Define your attitude kit with affirmation, visualisation, attitude talk, positive greetings, enthusiasm, spiritual empowerment, humour and exercise. 8. Build supportive relationship: Nobody makes it alone in this world, we all need support. Put together you're A-team those people who will help you fight off negative attitude. People with shared visions, shared values. Learn how to defend yourself against toxic people who just want to pull you down. 9. See changes as an opportunity: One of the greatest challenges to a positive attitude is change, whether it is jobs, relationship or economical status.

The ultimate aim is to leave a lasting legacy by planting positive seeds of hope, encouragement, faith and love to the people around you be they your family, friends, clients, staff or suppliers. Remember that the first steps to any investment is in yourself, by first investing in changing your thinking, you can change and affect a lot more things around you than you think.

There are many contributing reasons for non profitability which results in business failure:

- No proper business planning: Business planning - Not enough funding or funding spent on wrong things - lack of internal procedures and organisation - lack of well defined goals - insufficient knowledge of the hairdressing business - Unqualified staff - Not properly researched services - targeting the wrong clientele - under pricing and over pricing - too much or too little risk taking - inability to cooperate with others - lack of staff cooperation - negative personalities - adverse market conditions - paying too much for the business - bad spending habits - employees' inexperience and lack of skills - running the business as a friendship - inability to delegate

Hair extension Techniques and Training courses. There are over 30 hair extension techniques throughout the market place. Not all techniques deliver a solution for all hair types without damaging the client's hair.

However there are a few very popular techniques which really depend on the professional way in which the consultant applies them, how the client looks after them and how they are removed. They are often called different names so I will just refer to the methods which could be attached using various methods. It really depends who offers the training, the tools they use and proven methods.

- Bonding methods using glue from a bottle, glue via a glue gun, glue pellets which is melted down. Hair extensions can be applied in wefts, small sections (Bulk hair) or pre tips. - Weaving methods using pure cotton and a braiding technique - Small rings which are often referred to as micro rings. Hair extensions are applied by weft or bulk hair. - Clips. Often referred to as toupee clips. Sewn to weft of hair and client clips them in. - Head systems. Quarter, half or full head systems which are clipped, stitched or bonded to clients head. - Braiding techniques. This is when hair is plaited or interwoven into client's hair. - Hair pieces, lace front wigs and ordinary wigs.

It is important that when seeking out training that you select an organisation that specialises in delivering more than one reputable technique. Learning to apply hair is not sufficient, one has to be taught consultation skills, blending and styling and problem solving.

Guard your reputation.

Your reputation and brand are linked.

When you build your reputation through hard work and planning. You've made the right choice of location and products. You've trained your staff well and you've bent over backwards for your clients.

You have also pre-sold your hair extension with your Unique Selling Proposition. Now you must deliver on your USP. Your USP is your promise to deliver a benefit. Clients expect you to live up to your promise.

Steer clear of using profanity. You may think that swearing is cool, but you would be surprised at the number of people it offends. Express yourself simply.

Be dependable, keep commitments, practice honesty and show no form of disloyalty. Don't gossip or slander.

Don't ever take ethical shortcuts; always do the right thing. Keep the Your hair extensions standards high and keep the clients happy. Once a reputation has been shattered, it is very hard to fix the damage. Bad word of mouth spreads like wildfire. So make sure to protect your reputation.
