If quitting smoking is your chosen ultimate goal, then just as for any achievement you have had or ever likely to still want, you absolutely must make sure that you have an indelible picture of your ultimate goal in your head - keep it forever there and you WILL successfully kick the habit for good.

You're now exposed to the question - why rely on your willpower alone then?
