Key Success Traits Of An Entrepreneur

What Traits Of An Entrepreneur Should You Emulate?

I was listening last night to a webinar and the presenter was chatting about the traits of an entrepreneur and one of the first ones he came up with was that you had to be a little bit crazy. That's one that I tend to agree with. To have the desire to be a true entrepreneur, you should be prepared to accept a certain level of risk as well as do what ever it takes to succeed.

You also have to look at the world in a very positive way, no matter how difficult things get and sometimes you need to not know when to stop. That is why I believe he feels like you need to be a little crazy, since many people have a certain tolerance point for pain and then they're ready to give up. To become an entrepreneur, you must have such strong concentration on the reward that it blocks out all other feelings. Including thoughts of doubt, failure and frustration.

So, while I might use a different word. I would accept his comment that you have to be a bit crazy to want to be an entrepreneur.

To Succeed Calls for More Then Just Drive

While drive is an unbelievable trait, it has to be coupled with focus along with a eagerness to learn and be trained. Unless you're the one person on the planet that knows everything about everything, there is a lot to learn to be successful in any business. A true attribute of an entrepreneur is accepting that there are a lot of wise people out there with a lot to offer. In order to be a true student of success, someone has to spend a part of each day trying to learn something new.

I'm not sure who coined the saying, but I've heard it time and again through out my adult life, "leaders are readers". With all the options out there, that may include webinar watchers and MP3 listeners as well. But learning from those who have come before you and have made each of the errors you ought to avoid is an important attribute of an entrepreneur.

Working On Your Business Instead Of Inside It

If you have not read the Emyth Revisited, I strongly recommend you do that. It's amongst the most important qualities you can pick up as an entrepreneur. It appears that {most entrepreneurs tend to want to complete everything themselves. I can confirm that, as a serial entrepreneur, I always believe I can do things best. My view and that view in general is often a recipe for failure.

To be a master of your company destiny, you'll need to understand your business from the top down and understand how to develop tools so others can concentrate on the everyday operations, so that you can drive the direction and strategy of the business. Put differently, it is much more fun to drive your car then fix a flat.

The qualities of an entrepreneur are many. But the most important ones are to be in command of your business and never get lost in it. Be somewhat crazy now and then and always focus on the top of the mountain, not the ruts along the way.
