Keeping Up With The Gaming Technology

By:

Technology moves around so quickly, it is possible to miss things and things are launched without shoppers having the ability to keep up with it all. There have been a lot of advance in home entertainment that there are many more options than dollars to go around. Everyone has heard of 3D television, but exactly how many people have had a chance to actually experience it themselves?

Most likely not as many, and although it is definitely an amazing technology and is really fascinating, it really is kind of pricey and not on everyone's list of items to purchase. However what might have escaped people's awareness are a few games which work on a typical tv which can be viewed in 3D. There are not many games released with this technology, but it's as good as enjoying a 3D movie at home and the glasses and technology are fundamentally the same.

But it can add a new dimension to what you are playing, pun intended. Certainly, these games could be experienced in traditional two dimensions, however to completely enjoy the new experience it should be played in 3D. With the trend to 3D trying to dominate the entertainment world, these kinds of games should become more widespread and gain in popularity as time goes on. What you don't want is for a game like this to relay on a gimmick to get you suckered into playing it. Gimmicks only work for so long and they will not hold the public's attention for very long so it is in the interest of the developers to make these products more intriguing and full of experiences.

Otherwise, the consumer base will shrink and the ideas will be much more difficult to get off the development stages in the future. There were attempts to use 3D technology before. They were always viewed as gimmicks and the support from developers just was not there. SEGA had a racing game for its Master System during the late 80's, but it never received much support for other developers.

But the newer technology works so well and actually adds to the experience that is well worth checking out. One of the best games to implement the technology seamlessly is Batman: Arkham Asylum. Using the 3D technology actually improves the experience of an already great game. It had already won many game of the year awards and the 3D technology makes it even cooler to play.
