Keeping Safety Mobile-a Traveling First Aid Kit

Keeping Safety Mobile-a Traveling First Aid Kit

By:

People enjoy traveling to new and exotic locations when they have a vacation. There are many excellent places to visit all over the globe. One item that everyone will want to have with them no matter where they visit is some type of first aid kit. You can pick up a kit in different sizes from pocket sized all the way up to a small suitcase size. It is simple though to make a kit yourself and simply store the items you need in a zip up plastic baggie or a plastic container with a fitted and airtight lid. Your own kit can be put together much more cheaply and probably netter than something that you will buy at the store.

Some of the typical things that you will need to have in your first aid kit are Band-Aids of varying sizes, some antibiotic cream, butterfly bandages, alcohol pads, gauze, and a roll of self adhesive tape to wrap up anything from a sprain/strain to a bleeding wound. Stay away from ace bandages very simply because they can be difficult to maneuver and to keep in place when on the go.

If you have access to an Epi pen then you will want to make sure to keep it in your first aid supplies as this can be a life saver if a person begins having a severe allergic reaction. Baking soda, water, and Benadryl are also things that you can use to help draw out the effects of a bee sting or bug bite. Just take a little baking soda on a piece of gauze, add a little bit of water to it and apply it to a bite immediately. You can even secure it to the bite with some tape to keep it in place.

Bringing a cell phone wherever you travel is probably the best first aid device that you can have. Mainly because it will be a way for you to contact help from the rest of the world. It is also a way that you can be found because of the signal if something happens and no one has heard from you. For these reasons, don't be tempted to leave your phone at home so you won't be tempted to chat or do business.

Putting together a simple safety kit can be so simple and will be of incredible help if something unexpected does happen. It can be very small so that you can keep it in a backpack or purse. The act of being prepared is what can make something very hard to deal with so much easier. It can also keep you from worrying when you are having fun.
