Keeping Pool Decks Clean

Having a pool outside your home is definitely a luxury. Not only do you have the option of jumping in the pool for a quick swim on a hot day, but also it's also excellent exercise and a lot of fun when entertaining. However, pools require maintenance and cleaning just like your pool decks. Cleaning pool decks doesn't have to be the tedious dreaded task we make it out to be if done on a regular basis.

Keeping pool decks clean is as important as it is to keep the pool clean. For one thing, when you, your family or guests are around the pool, they're going to be barefoot so you don't want your pool deck dirty. Secondly, you don't want leaves, dirt or other debris pushed or blown into the pool or cleaning your pool will become a never-ending job. Although cleaning pool decks sounds like a hard project, it's relatively easy if you know what needs to be done and how to do it.

Power washing your deck is, by far, the fastest, easiest and most effective way to loosen debris or dirt that's stuck on, which is why cleaning the deck should be the first thing you do in spring before even thinking about using your pool. Most hardware stores have power washers for rent, if you don't own one.

Make sure your deck stays wet from the power washer so it's wet when you clean it. You'll find some very effective pool deck cleaners on the market today. Deck Plus Stuff is one but there are many more. This cleaner will begin working within a couple minutes so start scrubbing with a brush from one end to the other end.

When you're done, rinse the entire deck off with your garden hose, making sure you're rinsing it away from the pool. You'll be amazed at the sudden difference in your pool deck after a cleaning, which should be done a couple times a year.
