Kathak Classes In Chennai

Chennai is known as the cultural capital of South India. Be it Carnatic Music or Bharatnatyam, almost everyone around the world knows where to fly to. With innumerable schools for teaching classical music and dance in the city, we do keep up the city of contrasts title with many western/contemporary music and dance schools in the city competing for excellence. The school is considered one of the best places in Chennai to learn the finer nuances of Kathak, the emotion and energy as they call it, with absolute passion and devotion to the art.

Then theres Jathiswaraalaya, again at Mylapore, an Indian classical dance school, teaching mostly Bharatnatyam and Kathak. The Guru, Lakshmi Kannan, who is also the director of the institute, imparts the dance education and rigorous training that she has gained from her Guru Renuka Desai and Vijay to Kathak aspirants.

Vipanchee, at Karpagam Avenue, is one another place where Kathak is being taught among an assortment of other classical dances. They provide special classes and advanced training in many classical dance forms according to your interest.

Mudra School of Dance has started offering Kathak classes in Kodambakkam and Anna Nagar too. The course offered is in Lucknow Gharana Kathak and is meant only for ladies above 12 years of age.
