Just near the Kadri Hill or referred to by locals as the Kadri gudde is the famed Kadri Park of Mangalore. The park is quite easy to identify as its about 4km outside of the city and in close proximity to the AIR studios.
The park has turned itself into a natural outdoor venue for families in Mangalore to gather and spend some time away from the busy streets outside. Since its a park that is being run by the government, entrance is free and is maintained well. What many people enjoy about the park is the fact that it is away from the activity filled city centre. Thereby, offering tourists and local visitors an haven from the busy streets.
Travelling to the park could be done quite easily with many local buses and rickshaws that are familiar enough at the mention of its name tourists should be able to find the attraction easily. Within the park itself there are quite a few small scale vendors that sell small eats.
Just nearby the park is the Kadri Market. It is situated outside Mangalore City Centre and is a quaint little place to visit. The market is a good place to mingle with the local folk and get a feel for how things operate in Mangalore. In terms of distance its about 7 km from the city.
The Kadri Market is spread across roughly about half an acre of land. Despite being not as big as its counterparts, it is ideally suited for a days exploration. It has a few shops and stalls that sell the essentials like fruits and vegetables. A visit here is a great way to meet the warm and friendly locals.
