Gold is essential to success when playing World of Warcraft. The currency of the game, gold is necessary for purchasing equipment, obtaining training, and buying and selling at the auction house. Fortunately, there are several ways to earn gold in World of Warcraft.

As you may know - Jewel crafting is a HOT HOT HOT profession now. Well Jewel Crafters also need gems that they get from prospecting ore. Most players who aren't Jewel Crafters will buy these gems directly in order to get the gems cut.
Buy loads of ore and either prospect it, or find a Jewel Crafter to prospect it for you. This is an awesome way to make automated Gold!

If you are beginner player, or on a lower level character you will probably want to stick to killing humanoids, unless you are a skinner. Humanoids drop both cloth and coin which is a large portion of your money, and they also have the highest drop percentage for green's and blues (generally speaking).

But if you play at a higher level a few things you will want to target are motes, think items and vanity items.The first two are fairly obvious on where to farm for them, so I am not going to elaborate on that too much.

A quest is a task given to a character, typically by a non-player character although some fixed or dropped items may generate quests. Quests are a great way to earn gold in World of Warcraft because the reward for many quests is gold. Even if the quest reward is an item, it can generally be sold.

Vanity items are those items that very simply make the characters look pretty. They have no other purpose at all. These range from foods or drinks that alter characters effect, to clothing that makes a character look like a fisherman or a ninja! This also includes pets that people do not know about.

Now, if you're your purse does not contain the necessary coin to purchase a bag at this level, and you are not a Tailor, you are left with acquiring additional bags through drops and quests. Quite a few mobs drop 8 slot Leather Bags, but the frequency is not great; you'll have more chance with those quests which reward you with a bag. In general, the greater the number of slots a bag has as a reward, the greater the difficulty of quest, and the higher the level you'll need to be.

Different methods of earning gold work better for different characters, but any character can earn enough gold to meet their needs in World of Warcraft if they are willing to put some effort into it.
