Jumpers may be known by many other names -- such as jerseys, pullovers, or sweaters. They can be the unsung heroes, as it were, of men's clothing. You may be a man who loves to follow fashion, or one who merely reaches into his wardrobe and grabs the closest thing and puts it on. In either case, a stylish jumper with clean lines, is a staple in any man's wardrobe.

Men's fashion trends reflect the use of jumpers year after year. One year they can be finally knit wool jumpers which fit very slim on the body, and another year they can be very loose ones reminiscent of the punk rock era. Whatever the latest trend is, these handy garments have a vital place in menswear today.

They are warm, comfortable, and functional. Many people have a jumper that's been a friend of the family almost, and which they've worn for 20 years or more. You can put this garment on at weekends, or when you get home from work. It's so easy to pop one of these on over your head and achieve a stylish yet casual look. Underneath, you can wear a T-shirt for extra comfort as well as a pair of jeans, and this look will take you virtually anywhere.

Jumpers and their designs have been fairly constant. This means that you can keep them from season to season and are not held to the latest yearly fashion trends. The designs are timeless and you can invest in the best possible quality, so that they will remain great-looking several decades into the future.

Because jumpers are so classically designed, if you choose one that's elegant and simple, and perhaps one in a V-neck or crewneck and a neutral colour, you'll never offend the fashion police. Earthy colours as well as charcoal or denim, will wear well and go with most everything you own. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a few beautiful soft pastel shades for dates in a casual restaurant, either in the city or country.

Most of your knitwear should be in fairly neutral colours so that it gives you the best versatility, but there's nothing wrong at all with adding stripes and patterns to your wardrobe. Be aware though, that you could be stuck with the dinosaur even though you love it, at sometime in the future. You can put it away in the back of your wardrobe, and a few years after that it could return as a retro style!

When purchasing a new jumper, trying to do the best you can afford. This goes of the old adage -- a few quality pieces are far better than many poor quality ones. They'll wear for years and look fantastic. It's not necessary though, to spend hundreds of pounds on this type of knitwear. There are many high quality pieces which are moderate in cost. Of course, every one of us loves to have at least one luxury piece of clothing!
