Juicing And Blending As Part Of A Raw Diet

By:

There is quite a lot of controversy about whether we should blend or juice our food as part of a raw food diet. I would recommend both and buy a good quality juicer and blender

These items can be quite expensive but are an essential part of the any raw kitchen and the really good ones will last a long time.

Vegetable juicing is better than blending for cleansing the body.

What juicing and blending does is unlock the vital nutrients in the foods we eat as otherwise they would go straight through us. Take spinach for example.

All the nutrients are stored in the plant wall so unless we chew on the leaf for a long time, and who has that time, then we are not going to absorb all those nutrients.

Nutrients will be released when a super fast blender is used. Add some sweet fruit like a banana and you have a great tasting and nutritious meal.

However you should be careful not to overdose on all the other stuff like green powders cacao and heavy oils, as this will create digestive problems.

Also a blender moves at high speed and generates heat which can destroy enzymes, so add a couple of ice cubes.

For juicing you need a slow turning juicer that grinds out the nutrients and leaves little pulp behind. Feed in the leafs slowly so the the juicer does not get overloaded.

One other good thing is that a juicer is easier to clean than a blender. With mine it's just a few seconds under the tap whereas the blender takes forever as you try to clean around the blades down at the bottom of the bowl.

So the juice has had all of it's pulp removed so it all goes straight into your blood stream, putting minimal pressure on your digestive system.

Make sure you user the strainer when juicing to ensure all the pulp stays out of your body. Also savor the juice like you do a smoothie, don't just gulp it down.

Make drinking a vegetable juice be the first then you do when wake up in the morning as you want an empty stomach. Do not eat anything else for 20 to 30 minutes after you've had your juice. This gives the juice time to get though the digestive wall without interference from any other food.

By following these simple rules you will enjoy a great raw diet.
