Working at home gives a level of freedom that is hard to find when you work a forty hour week and get two weeks of vacation time. Still, this is has disadvantages in terms of security as well since you do not get a pay check.

There are so many scams on the internet, so what are some legitimate ways to make money as a stay at home mom? Keep in mind that it's good to not have to lay out money in advance if possible. We also don't want to spend a lot of time developing technical skills. Here are some effective ways to bring in a part-time income that may even develop into full-time as you build up clients.

1) One sorely needed task that webmasters often neglect is to get links to their site from other similar sites. This is something they hire people for often and you can be the one to email web site owners to ask them to link to their site. This is a bit of grunt work but perfect to do from home. You can also post on forums and link back to your bosses site.

A way to help a webmaster is to study their site and write a few one paragraph summaries. These then can be placed in appropriate categories on classified ad sites or craigslist or yahoo answers to bring them traffic. You can even write to webmasters and ask them if they need a helper and tell them you are interested in helping them get more visitors to their site.

Craigslist and yahoo are popular sites and having a link back to your website is helpful both for traffic as well as getting indexed in the search engines. Sometimes a new site will not even appear in yahoo, msn or google till it has links pointing to it. This is a great opportunity for part-time work.

2) A way people also make money online is by writing articles. Articles can be sold to individual webmaster, sold in packs on marketing forums to webmasters or submitted to directories for payment. These can be 300 words or more and basically follow a simple outline of bullet points.

3) A third way to bring in some part-time income staying at home with your family is to join affiliate programs such as Amazon or Ebay and write articles yourself that then link back in your resource box to the site that pays you a commission. If you do not know much about web design you can set up a free blog and give a review of the item or product and then your affiliate link so you can get credit for the sale.

The approaches above are all excellent for additional money .Remember that working at home is a job of sorts and you can't just kick back and watch tvs or gab on the phone half the day. It requires concentration and discipline.
