If you would like to make some extra money and be home with your children then opening a daycare may be jus the thing for you. As with any opportunity, this may not be for everyone. Maybe you would like to spend more time at home with your children. Will your children be jealous of other little kids having your attention? Will your profits cover all the needed expenses you will occur?

What are some of the steps you may need to take to open an at-home daycare? You can't start advertising for your daycare until you have your business set up properly. You will need to find out all the legal requirements in your area and follow them. You will probably need to be first aid and CPR certified, have a food handling permit, and have a business license. You may also need to have inspections and there may be educational requirements for you as well.

You will need to get everything you need to run an at-home daycare including toys, craft supplies, and food service equipment. When you buy toys and equiptment be sure it is age appropriate. Your at-home daycare can take children of all ages or you can specialize in a small age range. There may be restrictions on how many children you can supervise at various ages at any given time. Be sure you know all the laws and rules. It may be necessary to have other adults help you if you have a lot of children in your at home daycare.

For your at-home daycare to run smoothly you will need a plan. Plan out all the activities and snack times ahead of time. That includes the drop off and pick up times, how you will discipline the children, what the payment arrangements will be, and more. You may have to tell parents you will charge if they are late picking up children. Act and present your self in a professional manner to get more clients. If you take yourself seriously others will take you seriously too.

You may encouter problems with difficult children and parents. Some parents may not want to pay as agreed. False allegations may be made to child services. Make sure your aware of all the possible pit falls. It is always a good idea to contact a lawyer prior to setting up an at-home daycare. A day care is the perfect job for stay at home mom's. You can be home with your children and make money while your at it.
