However, not all Japanese green tea is the same. Difference in processing methods and quality of the leaves give you a wide selection of teas to choose from.

Common to all green tea is the wide range of health benefits that each has. From helping your metabolism work faster, reducing the risk of diseases with preventing fighting action in your cells to lowering bad cholesterol levels, green tea is indeed a great drink.

The four types of Japanese Green Tea available for you to try are:

- Gyokuro Tea is the finest of all four types of tea. Its processing method requires that it is grown in the shade. As a result this makes this tea rare and expensive, but also sweet and with low caffeine content.

- Matcha Tea can be served as Koicha or as Usucha, depending on the age of the Gyokuro leaves that are used to make this powdered tea, but also on the amount of the powder itself. It is rich in antioxidants, making it a powerful drink.

- Sencha Tea is a floral tea, great as an everyday drink. With a different processing method than the previous two, this tea is grown in the sunlight, giving you a yellow-green tea with plenty of health benefits associated.

- Bancha Tea is the cheapest choice. Made with older and courser leaves, yet it still has a high content of antioxidants which provide numerous health benefits. With a woody taste, Bancha can be found in two varieties, earthy Hojicha or with roasted rice Genmaicha.

So next time you go to a teashop or tea house dont be afraid to experiment with each of these teas. Share this healthy energetic drink, with less caffeine than coffee, with family and friends.
