When I left school I was not so sure which career path I should take. Deep down I wanted to be an actress but my family managed to talk me out of that. They said it was a very hard way to make a living and they were probably right! After finishing my A-Levels I had no idea what I should do next. Should I go to university or find employment? And if I decided to find employment what exactly should I do. I couldnt make a decision but my mother was on hand to assist.
She found me a job at the high street bank where she worked. I hated it. The 9-5pm day just seemed so mundane and every work day was so repetitive. So many rules and routines, it was my idea of a nightmare. My mother always told me that I could do whatever I wanted and if I managed to find employment somewhere else, I was free to go. However she was very clear that I must not find my self unemployed.
I eventually found myself a job as a sales representative for a health and beauty company. It wasnt ideal but much better than the bank. There was a lot more freedom. I had a company
Jaguar Dealer car and to a degree I was my own boss. I made a decent salary but had to give up the job when I found out I was expecting my first child. Being on the road so much would not fit around family life.
I now have the best job in the world. I work as a freelance photographer. It is super. I work my own hours, I am my own boss and no longer have to worry about monthly targets. It has also provided me with the best income so far, if only I would have started out as a photographer. Oh well, life is a journey I suppose.
