Jagdish Temple The Sanctuary Of Udaipur

By:

The state of Rajasthan in Western India has been one of fame throughout history for its cultural importance, architectural elegance and scenic beauty. Nestled amidst the City Palace Complex in the City of the Lakes, Udaipur, is the Jagdish Temple dedicated to the preserver of the universe Lord Laxmi Narayan.

During the reign of Maharaja Jagat Singh, the temple was constructed in the Indo-Aryan design abiding by the Hindu architectural science of Vastushstra. The three storied structure is magnificently designed with elaborate ceilings, ornately carved pillars and skillfully painted walls. The halls are airy and large to house the thousands of devotees that flock to this monumental place of worship. The spire is decorated with elephants, horses, musicians and dancers and towers above the other buildings in the area.

One must ascend a flight of marble steps after coming through the entrance to the shrine which is guarded by two elephants. The four armed sculpture of Lord Vishnu (Lord Laxmi Narayan) made of a single black stone is housed in the main shrine room, watched over by a brass figurine of a Garuda (half eagle and half man). The main shrine is bordered on each side by shrines dedicated to Goddess Shakti, Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiva.

It is not in the least surprising that Hindu devotees from all over India visit this sanctuary as it can instill such purifying feelings of serenity in every soul and embed the religious doctrine in a steadfast manner.

As the Jagdish Temple calms your mind and heals your inner wounds, turn to a luxury hotel Rajasthan to pamper you and cater to your worldly needs. Overlooking the Lake Pichola, The Leela Palace Kempinski Udaipur promises its clients the peace of mind they crave for, therefore it is one of the much loved Udaipur hotels.
