Itunes Not Detecting Apple Tv, How To Fix?

The burning problem that we face now-a-days is that the iTunes for Windows would not show the Apple TV set-top-box entry when using with Windows 7. The connectivity is through a wireless router and quite interestingly, the router page shows the Apple TV with a valid IP address starting with 192 and if you try to ping the Apple TV from the computer then it is successful but the iTunes will simply not show the Apple TV in the list of entries. Let us understand how the iTunes & Apple TV works.

The Apple TV must be on a proper network. How to ensure it? Use the Apple TV remote to select the Network Name and enter the Password. The IP address, subnet mask and the DNS addresses needs to be put carefully if DHCP is not being used. The TV display shows a 5 digit display code which needs to be put in the iTunes while synchronizing it. You should be able to go to the iStores from iTunes. iTunes needs to be updated for the latest software from the menu bar. Click on Check for Updates. After opening iTunes click on the Apple TV icon in the devices list. You should put the 5 digit pass-code from the TV screen here. For Apple product services, contact a PC support service provider.

However, numerous people have tried different things when everything else is okay except for the iTune software which works fine but would not detect the Apple TV !! Do not think that MAC users never faced the same problem but the only thing is that such instances are lesser in MAC machines. There is hardly anything left to be done when some certain things are already checked. These are Network Adapter drivers updated successfully in the Device Manager, all firewalls disabled and Antivirus programs uninstalled, ping is successful between the computer and the Apple TV through the wireless router, the Apple TV actually shows as a device in the routers web page with a valid IP address and all other applications in the iTunes are working fine.

Even the latest version of iTunes that is version 10 is facing problems with Windows 7 users and you might consider redoing the whole thing after uninstallation. People also face problems like the whole DVD ROM drive disappeared after installing iTunes. You will find the story in the internet and do not believe me. The bottom line is that there are those fortunate people who did not face a single issue with their iTunes but there are also many people who face severe problems with this software which is supposed to run fine in the Windows platform as well. Check for conflicting software and do a virus scan as well if you do not want leave any stone unturned while troubleshooting. The existing antivirus program might not be adequate enough to detect any existing virus issue with the computer.
