It's Not What You Do, But What You Start = Mlm Success

I recently went to a meeting with a fantastic speaker and to keep it general I'll keep out what he's pushing and just convey the message. His name is Randy Hedge and he lives out of the intended area of my business yet has been able to still be the #6 money earner. I'm not going to talk how to do it cold market but center on the idea that he was trying to make.

"It's not what you do, but what you start."

Now, in how many instances does this really apply in everyday events? The intention is not that you do nothing and get something. The intention is that you continue to plug away and do "whatever" but as long as you start it then results will happen. Sure getting more training, learning the company ropes and taking speaking classes will help you close at a higher percentage. But does the general network marketer actually invest that kind of time? Of course not. Most are here to try and feel out. You can't encourage someone to become a leader like Randy. So what you do is you inspire the non-leaders to do their share of the work. Whatever it might be for the company. Most companies will have a quota or others will have a set criteria to get promoted. Whatever it is, the leader needs to get his MLM downline to achieve at minimum that goal in any amount of time.

The beauty of network marketing is not the people you know so much. It's the people they know who know someone else. There could be more than 6 degrees of relationships to that person but if that person is a strong leader then your going to be paid very well for their efforts even though you don't even know them. Just finding a handful of associates and having them to do their small part will in time bring on huge returns. There is where real MLM success is achieved.

Now this only works if the company has a low overhead and if the product is useful every single month. I've touched on companies that are niche in the way that you might have a harder time reselling your product the next month if times are tight. That is why I encourage to people to look at products but to not fall in love with them. If you should become a network marketer then you are the product. You sell "stuff" but that is not who you are. Those products might one day be gone but you are still a network marketer. That being the case don't feel like you are a brand X sales person. You are a professional network market in a full or part time basis. You must believe in your product in that people will want it every single month. This pays the residual.

All this leads to building a monthly income due to the work and effort you did 1 time by generating MLM leads. Build it correctly and train those below and you will eventually be paid enough to work it full time. Sometimes the largest hurdle is the first couple rejections. But if your reason for working the business is strong enough no matter what someone's opinion is of your business you will continue to work and earn a profit. Over time that work will pay off with hundreds to thousands of paying customers that you know little of personally.

So the question is: Why give advice and product recommendation to people for free when you could be paid every time for it. Better yet, get paid for it every time they use it!

Find a product your comfortable with, learn the compensation, understand your personal goals and learn the ropes. Some people like to only work warm market and others only cold market. Either way your restricting your pool of potential associates/customers. Get trained and you can handle either situation.

Like in that movie Field of Dreams "If you build it they will come". You gotta start something before it will happen. Make sure you got a good upline as there will be questions along the way. Get those answered and start thinking like a leader to get paid like one.
