It Is Only A Matter Of Time For Wimax

Although some technologies catch on faster than others, it's really only a matter of time before something revolutionary in nature becomes wildly successful. Take cars as a prime example. They may not have caught on that fast in the beginning, but since they made travel so much easier it was really only a matter of time before they eventually did catch on. A perfect contemporary example is Wimax internet service. Slowly but surely it's gaining momentum and now it's only a matter of time before it will be as widely used as cars are.

To claim that it will be as widespread as cars in the near future is a bold statement, but it's hard to deny the potential that a fast cellular internet connection has. This stems from the fact that internet connections themselves give you access to so many resources. The faster the connection is, the better the resources you will get access too. Dial-up could give you access to email and chat services for example, but it couldn't give you access to streaming movies and video conferencing. Cable and DSL give you access to everything, but they keep you stuck at home. Essentially, every connection before Wimax had glaring shortcomings that needed to be overcome.

As previously stated, this new connection was made possible thanks to cellular technology. After all, any sort of wired technology would not have been able to overcome the problem of mobility. The only issue that comes up is that people used to think that wireless solutions could never hope to keep up with their wired counterparts. Wimax has turned that line of thinking upside down though. In fact, it's often times faster than standard cable and DSL connection, which speaks volumes about the state of wireless technology these days.

In the end, the perfect connection is one that is as fast or faster than cable or DSL but that has all the versatility of a cellular connection. That's exactly what Wimax is. Since it features all the advantages but none of the disadvantages of the previous connections, it's easy to see now that it's only a matter of time before people get wise to it and sign up in droves. The only thing that might be holding most people back is the perception that wireless technology is expensive. Although this may have been true in the past, that's definitely no longer the case. People can sign up and end up paying just a few extra dollars per month, if that. They may even save money if they drop the additional services of cable TV or telephone land lines. Cable and DSL providers often force customers to tack those services on but you wouldn't have to do that anymore once you make the switch.

The speed is right. The mobility is right. The price is right. All three of those elements are in place and thus Wimax is set to be as widespread as cars one day. It may even become more widespread since the cost of admission is so much less. In any case, don't be surprised if it makes a big splash in the near future.
