Its Okay To Spend More On A Lab Coat

By:

As consumers, we have been taught, for the most part, that saving money is paramount to any purchase that we make. While we like to get good quality items, we like saving money on items that we buy a whole lot more. With that in mind, when we go to make a purchase and have the option of something that costs more but has better quality and something that costs less but is of generic quality, more often than not we feel a strong inclination to go with the cheaper item, quality be damned. While there are some items where saving a little money on a generic option that isnt quite as good as the name brand stuff makes sense, there are other items where you just have to suck it up and spend the money on something that is of great quality.

Take lab coats for example. If you are a medical professional and have ever put on one of those generic, one-size-fits-all coats you know why its important to spend the extra money on something good. Wearing a generic coat feels as if you are wearing a burlap sack. Not only does it not give you the fit that you need to move comfortably, but since they arent made of breathable fabric, they are hot and confining. When you spend the extra money on a lab coat that is made for you you get something that is contoured to your body, and thus less confining throughout the day.

Essentially, buying a high quality lab coat is all about getting something that you dont even know you are wearing. You want the weight of the coat to be evenly distributed so that you dont feel the pressure build up on your shoulders if you find yourself on your feet for hours on end. You want deep pockets so that you can put your pads, pens and tools in your coat and have easy access to get them. The coats need to be stitched well so that they dont fall apart after a couple of months, thus lessening your investment. In addition, you also want to make sure that the coat is made of material that will repel liquids, and take the liquids that it does soak up, like sweat, and release it into the air so that it doesnt weight you down.

You can find these high quality web coats online or through specialty stores. While they most cost a few dollars more than the generic ones, spend one day in them and youll realize why it makes sense to spend the extra money.
