Its Never Late To Start On The Stieg Larssons Series

By:

The last volume of the Millennium Trilogy written by Stieg Larsson managed to reach his English language fans only in 2009, but the wait was worth it. The story of the book revolves around Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist, and you are sucked right in to the story the moment you start reading. Even when you reach the end of the story, you wouldnt want to let go, as when the real story of Lisbeth Salander hasnt even begun to be explored, the author is dead. Its sad we would never know what was going in the mind of the author (regarding rest of the story).

The First 100 Pages

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest picks the story up right from the climax of The Girl Who Played with Fire, and the initial 100 pages may leave you slightly confused as there are various illnesses, deaths, attacks, and of course, conspiracies unraveling. The setting of all these first hundred pages is a hospital where both Lisbeth Salander and her father, Zalanchenko are getting treatment.

You Need To Read Earlier Volumes

There are security personnel, policemen and other vultures moving around them constantly and if you havent read the earlier two volumes, you may find it difficult to comprehend whats really going on there. The forces loyal to her father are still trying to prove that she is mentally incompetent and that she should be sent to a cruel mental institution, the place where she spent her childhood.

Intricate Mixing Of Real and Fictional Worlds

The canvas of the book is huge, as it traverses around the era of politics just after 1964, carefully analyzing the social events that stemmed from the failure of Swedish democracy. The real and the fictional worlds are so intricately juxtaposed that we dont really know when one world begins and the other ends. There is a brief glossary of terms given to help the non-Swedish readers understand what the author is talking about.
