If you think you keep getting the common cold over and over again, do you realize that these symptoms could be a reaction to mold that might have shown up in your home? The symptoms of a cold and of exposure to mold are sometimes so similar that you might not really know for sure unless you find the mold or visit your doctor. In some people, the reactions can be like day and night. In other words, you might react to a small amount of mold where someone else would have to be around a much bigger amount of mold before they feel anything.

In most cases a doctor will be able to tell if you really have a cold or if the ailment you are suffering from is due to an allergic reaction. A lot of times in can be difficult to pin down exactly what it is that you are allergic to unless you have a severe reaction like a lot of people have when they eat nuts, get a bee sting, or eat certain types of fish. The things you could be allergic to are endless really and it could take several trips to a doctor to have testing done before you are sure. Not all allergic reactions have as many symptoms of a cold as exposure to mold does.

Some of the most common symptoms of a mold infested home are sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, couching, and these are the mild ones. You might develop hives or itchy patches on your skin. You might even feel like your windpipe is closing up, making it hard to breath. These will have to be dealt with because they usually only get worse and sometimes the damage to your lungs could become permanent.

If you find mold in your house you will need to get it out of there at once. You will need to have a mold remediation company come in and test the home for mold. Sometimes mold is easy to find if you know of some water damage in your home that has not been repaired. Other times mold can be hidden under the home in the crawlspace or down in the basement. The attic can harbor mold due to a leaky roof it can even be hidden behind walls where moisture or leaking has occurred there. Hopefully, your mold problem will not be as bad as all that, but when it is enough to make you really sick it is likely that there is quite a bit of it somewhere.
