Ahwaz, Iran is the world's most air-polluted city. According to a 2011 World Health Organization report, Ulan Bator, Mongolia is second. Sanadaj, Iran is third. Over 2 million people die every year from air pollution, but it's not the big cities - Beijing, Bangkok, Mexico City - that are the worst. It's cities in developing countries. Because these cities rarely have or enforce environmental regulations, they have dirtier cars, factories and power plants. Residents often burn firewood or dung for heat and energy. However, the report also named the least polluted city - Whitehorse, Canada. Doesn't the good guy always have a white horse?

The Falkland Islands and Sweden both have 92.4%. African countries - including Liberia, Ethiopia and Somalia - are at the bottom of the list. As of 2011, nearly 2.1 billion people - about 30% of the world's population - have been caught in the "Inter-net".

The Grand Bazaar - the 15th century covered market in Istanbul, Turkey - is #10 on Travel + Leisure's 2011 list of the world's most visited attractions. The top 9 are in the U.S. and 3 are in New York City: Times Square, #1; Central Park, #2; and Grand Central Terminal, #6. Union Station in Washington, D.C., #3 is followed by Las Vegas, #4; Niagara Falls, #5; Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, #7; Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Orlando, #8; and Disneyland Park in Anaheim, #9. This list is the result of a survey of T+L readers - and undoubtedly their pocketbooks too.
