Is The Internet Taking Over Advertisements?

By:

In the blog,Businesses Marketing Departments Are Spending More Time On The Internet it states that more productive marketing can be done by businesses through the internet.

This is proving to be true, as more and more people use the internet to find the things they are looking for rather than having ads thrust at them through more traditional marketing tactics, such as television ads.
Advertising and marketing have taken a turn to a

completely new direction over the past decade. Through we still rely on and use the more traditional ways to market through radio, newspapers, yellow pages, direct mail flyers, and television ads, less and less people are paying to these methods. Even though these methods still have their success rates, they are slowing down in their effectiveness.

Why? Think about DVRs and TiVo. They aren't in every home yet, but they are becoming standard equipment with television service whether it be cable or satellite. And what do they enable you to do? Skip over all the commercials if you want.

Same with the mail. You get flyers all the time, but where does a lot of it go? Straight into the trash can. Unless you want to find coupons or good deals on something you're looking for, you don't waste time sifting through it.

Plus, more people are using e-mails to write their letters, send invitations, and do their business than they did even just a short decade ago. We'll always need the postal system if for nothing else that to ship the stuff we're ordering online. Plus, the greeting card industry reports a trend to sending more cards through the mail despite the popularity of e-cards.

Even though people still want to have that personal touch in their correspondences, they don't want to wade through unwanted advertisements that are pushed at them. Which is good news for businesses. If you have something they want, they will find it and be much more receptive to the ads that they are actively searching for.

Businesses can take advantage of this more active customer participation, and, as the blog points out, the ability of information to grow like wild fire through the World Wide Web. Using marketing budgets to produce interesting and propelling messages over the internet is definitely the way to go.

The bottom line here is that there are more opportunities popping up on the internet to market your business and do it more effectively and productively.
