Is Lipoflavonoid The Answer To Ringing Ears?

By:

You know all about ringing in the ears and by now you know that its technical name is tinnitus. Ringing, buzzing, hissing and clicking can be evident constantly or intermittently and can be loud one moment and quiet the next. It's more than an annoyance for many people and it tends to affect the way that they hear, interact with others and sleep.

Tinnitus by itself is not a condition, but a result of underlying problems such as an extended or prolonged exposure to loud noise, the build-up of ear wax, an infection of the ear or use of certain drugs such as aspirin, diuretics or antibiotics. It can be caused by a head injury, high blood pressure, heart disease, tumours or a specific condition known as Meniere's, a disorder of the inner ear.

If you cannot identify the cause of this issue then all you can do is mask its symptoms. You have to effectively recognise and manage the problem and not just create other noises to drown it out. Sometimes, people use specific "maskers" which emit a sound directly into the ear, while some people opt to just leave the radio on quietly in the corner at night while they try to go to sleep.

If we look at natural remedies, a number of studies have been conducted to see whether ginkgo biloba, melatonin, a dosage of vitamin C and E and even hypnotherapy may work. Perhaps more exciting is the potential surrounding the dietary supplement known as lipoflavonoid. This supplement has as one of its main ingredients eriodictyol glycoside, commonly found in lemons. This option can improve blood circulation in the inner ear, but here again studies are relatively limited and often centre around hearing loss problems, as opposed to tinnitus, per se.

It's interesting to see that studies involving both lipoflavonoid and a placebo in the 1970s indicated that, for those who were suffering from Ménière's disease, the supplements at least seemed to return the same beneficial effect as the placebo. As far as the science of medical studies is concerned, this by itself is a good indicator.

Many people swear by homeopathic remedies and in this case they might want to consider an approach known as quietus tinnitus. Plant extracts and salicylic acid are combined into a formulation for this remedy, but opinions do differ as to whether this specific quietus formulation actually achieves the objective for tinnitus, specifically.

This is definitely good information and food for thought for those who are suffering from ringing in the ears. Maybe lipoflavonoid or quietus tinnitus could be the solution for you? The jury is still out as far as these alternative solutions are concerned, but there is no harm in considering them, given everything that's at stake. Just how much longer can you put up with all those sleepless nights and other inconveniences? Ultimately, you will have to get to the bottom of the problem and treat the causes, and not just make an attempt to mask the symptoms.
