Is Lg Renoir Worth Your Money?

By:

LG Renoir comes as a great addition to the touchscreen phone market with its powerful features which are sure to set it apart from the competition. With a powerful 8 megapixel camera and advanced shooting options, this is one phone to watch out when considering photo taking capabilities of present cell phones.

Compared to its predecessor, LG Renoir looks classier and more refined. It has a 3 inch screen which supports 262,000 colors. On the front of the phone there are three buttons, the middle one takes you to the main menu and the other two are for answering and disconnecting calls.

The Renoir has a resistive touchscreen interface, which means that it will respond to any type of object and is not limited to the stylus. The touchscreen is more responsive compared to the Viewty.

The key feature is the camera. It's powerful and you may not need another stand alone camera if you have this phone. It is an 8 megapixel camera that has a large lens and sits on the back of the phone. To take a quick picture just turn the phone sideways and use the large shutter button to click. The camera also comes with a number of fun features. One of those is the Smile Shutter technology; this means that a photo shot will only be taken when the subject's smile is detected. Another nice addition is the blink detection; it avoids taking a picture when someone has shut their eyes.

The video recorder is also enabled on the camera and you can record at up to 120 frames per second, this allows you to replay the videos in slow motion.

Apart from its robust photo camera function, the phone still has more to offer; there's video and music playback support. The Renoir has Dolby Mobile software that boosts the music experience. The only disappointing aspect is that LG fails to provide a 3.5 mm headphone jack, though you can still use an adaptor.

As a mobile video player, LG Renoir comes with the popular DivX/Xvid codec to support playback of high quality videos without the need of specifically recoding existing ones for mobile use. The memory on the phone can be extended up to 8 GB using the microSDHC card.

Other high end features include, built-in GPS, Google Maps and HSDPA for faster mobile internet. The Renoir also has a jogging application that tracks the distance and time taken while running, walking or jogging.

Overall, this 8 megapixel touchscreen phone has some high end and some unique features and all of these seem to work really well.
