There are reasons to learn the Spanish language for its own sake. And in our time, language learning software can be perfect for people who like to learn Spanish at their own pace in the comfort of their own home or who can't attend regular classes. A few learning programs will attempt to measure your rate of learning in words learned per day but sometimes that is information you don't need. Even though, I think spelling and grammar are important to the in depth study of a language, I don't think they are all that important when you are just starting out. I can tell you though, that it is much more important to have fun learning your new language than almost anything else. No fun = no learning. Period.
