To start with, it is never good for a humidor to be exposed to extreme temperature changes. Since the humidor is made from specialty woods that are needed to keep the humidity inside perfect, they will be even more susceptible to changing temperatures. Since you cannot control the temperature outside, your humidor could be exposed to big changes. During this time, the wood could easily crack, warp get damaged in some other way. The moment that the wood warps, the whole humidor is compromised because air will be able to get inside. Many quality humidors include dovetail fittings. When these dovetails expand in the heat, they could very easily crack.

Since you know that you cannot store your cigar humidor outside, just where should you store it? The best place is indoors, of course. Preferably, you should place it in an area that will be out of direct sunlight. It should also not be in the direct path of an air conditioning vent. As long as the room is of comfortable temperature, then the humidor should be just fine.

When you are new to purchasing cigars and storing them properly, you can find that you have numerous questions since you may not know how to store the cigars so that they will retain all of their flavor. If you make sure you store your cigar humidor indoors and away from direct sunlight, you should not have any problem.
