A lot of women worry about whether it is safe to do exercise and keep fit when you are pregnant. In fact general health, nutrition and exercise are especially important when you are expecting a baby.

Your will be going through a big change and it has different needs. Good maternity health will help create a happy and healthy environment for your baby. Doing some exercise during pregnancy is good and it may even make your labour easier and reduce recovery time from the most stressful time on your body.

Exercise during pregnancy may help reduce stretch marks and cellulite. It can also reduce the sensations of being fat, overweight and unfit. There is a lot of information available on your new baby but much less is available for pregnant women who want to know how to lose pregnancy weight.

It is possible and advisable to do some exercise during your pregnancy but follow these tips :-

Check with your doctor that it is okay for you to continue or commence exercising during pregnancy.

Immediately stop exercising if you feel tired or feel any pain.

Do not exercise with the aim of improving your physical shape but just focus on maintaining your condition.

If at all possible why not exercise with your partner or a friend.

Do not do any exercises where you may be in danger of falling, being hit in the stomach or otherwise injuring yourself or baby.

Be sure to warm up properly and do cool down exercises.

You should not exercise for longer than 30 minutes. Start with 15 minutes and gradually work your way up to 30 minutes.

Keep the overall intensity of your exercise at a moderate level at all times.

Among the exercise activities which are safe for most pregnant women are walking swimming, climbing stairs , stationary cycling, pre natal aerobics classes. Of these walking and swimming can safely be done up until delivery.

Remember you have some exciting times ahead and keeping fit and healthy will prepare you for this important time in the life of both you, your family and your newborn.
