Ive read a few articles from a couple years ago that said you could not get banned for buying gold for WoW, but it is frowned upon. Is this still the case?
Answer 1:
According to the Terms of Service you agreed to, yes.
However, WoW does not really have a way to track this, and very, very few people have been banned for buying gold. Out of the millions buying gold, maybe 1%-2% have been banned.
The people selling you gold run a much higher risk, they will get banned, no questions asked if Blizzard finds out.
Answer 2:
Don't buy gold, earn it, the rest of us did. Why would anyone play an MMO as time consuming as WoW when you can just have everything done for you, thats not playing a game, thats having a game played on your behalf.
Yes of cos IF you get caught as it is against their TOS. That being said many people still do it and it seems pretty safe if you source from reputable source such as the big guns in the industry with their perfected delivery system.
IF you MUST really buy em... then check offgamers, mogs or any of the other highly rated stores.
Answer 3:
It's not Blizzards fault.
There are many ways that lead your mail address being discovered.
Take care and avoid your data being leaked.
