Is Baldness Hereditary Or Not?

Losing hair post pregnancy is nothing to be alarmed of as it should be temporary. This is caused by the fluctuation of hormones. During pregnancy, certain hormones are produced at high levels in order to sustain the pregnancy. After pregnancy of course, this becomes unnecessary and the hormone levels return to normal. This causes the person to experience mood swings and occasionally, hair loss.

Baldness due to heredity is trickier. If stress is not the reason then this is probably it. A person suffering from this kind of hair loss may experience it at a relatively young age such as the late thirties. Males are especially prone to this. Some are even reported to lose hair in their early twenties, though this is less likely than the former group (of late thirties). If you have a father who is losing hair, your chances of this happening to you is much higher than someone else who does not have a father with a hair loss problem. Is it hereditary? Definitely, but this is a probable, not an absolute.
