Is Article Marketing Worth Your Effort?

By:

Nowadays so many people are searching for alternative sources of income.  With the rising cost of fuel, it is imperative that one cannot rely solely on his monthly paycheck to make both ends meet.  It’s either you tighten your belt or you start looking for other money making ventures.

One of the most common alternatives is to engage in a home based business such as internet marketing.  There are basically two kinds of internet marketing, affiliate internet marketing and article internet marketing.  What is the difference between the two?  The first one is you select a type of product you want to affiliate with and market it online.  It could be software, an eBook or a service.  Once a customer purchases that product through your website, you earn a commission.  Commission rates can go to as high as 75% of the selling price.  It is free to become an affiliate but the problem is promoting your product effectively online particularly if you’re a newbie.  Soon frustration will set in as you fail to recover your initial investment.  The second one is article internet marketing.  How do you make money out of it?  If you’re a pure web publisher, the only way to make money is through Google Adsense.  You earn money when a visitor clicks on your relevant advertisements placed by Google.  Another one is writing articles to promote your affiliate products.  This is more of a double bladed weapon as you earn both from Google and the products you are affiliated with.

It may sound easy but article marketing is a time consuming endeavor.  Is it worth it?  First and foremost is how many articles can you write in one month?  If you have the money to burn, you can hire the services of ghostwriters.  Assuming your ghostwriters can crank up 100 articles a month, how long do you have to wait before you can get your first check from Google or your first commission from Clikbank or Pay Pal?

Here are the pros of marketing an article.
*      Lesser start up capital as you don’t have to spend on affiliate internet marketing costs.  You only have to spend on your domain name, web hosting and other miscellaneous costs.
*      Gives you a sense of fulfillment when you publish your very first original article.
*      Gives you a feeling of pride when you’re already branded as an expert author.  It establishes credibility which can result in more visitors to your website.
*      Once you learned the secrets and techniques of SEO (search engine optimization) you are guaranteed of a lucrative residual income for years to come.

The cons are the following:
*      It takes quite sometime before search engines can index your website.
*      Even longer time before your website ranks on the first page of search results, most often than not, it may never happen at all.
*      Longer time before you reap your fruits of your hard labor.

Personally speaking from my own experience, I would say that article marketing is definitely worth my effort.  It took a lot of hard work and patience before I got my first check from Google and other affiliate products.  With the proper tools, research, learning and patience, just wait for your website to age and mature and you will never go wrong.
