Irritating Inventions

By:

It is indisputable fact that every invention and related patents established with a specific purpose are usually associated with societys benefits. In contrast, there are various sociological researches, which disapprove this common trend, giving an announcement of the most irritating, useless and harmful tools and devices. That is the case, which was accomplished in the United Kingdom, when ten most irritating inventions were defined according to ideas of respondents.
Karaoke has achieved nearly 22% of votes as the most unwilling discovery. It belongs to Japanese Inoue Daisuke, who constructed the first device using stereo tape-recorder, booster and device of automatic reception of coins in 1971. Roberto del Rosario, a Filipino inventor, who developed a sing-along system in 1975 and patented it in the 1980s called his sing-along system "Minus-One," and holds the patent for the device now commonly known as the "karaoke machine".
Among other irritating inventions video games consoles should be pointed out, which took the third place. Despite appearance of computers in 1950s, these devices were invented in 1972 by Ralph H. Baer known as "The Father of Video Games. Nowadays there are eight generations of video games consoles, and the new upgraded technology is announced to appear in mid-2012, launched by Nintendo (Japanese Multinational Corporation).
11% of votes were given to mobile phones, which gained a large distribution in 1970s. The flagship of its invention is carried by Motorola Company, which has demonstrated the first hand-held mobile phone in 1973 under guidance of Dr. Martin Cooper.
No one can deny that alarm clocks can be very annoying. It is interesting to know that the first person to patent an adjustable mechanical alarm clock was the French inventor Antoine Redier in 1847.
Who would guess that Internet network will be also added to this list? An invention of World Wide Web was announced in 1970s, when the discovery of computer network was forced by US Ministry of Defence. Its parent in face of ARPANET was established in 1969, when UCLA's School of Engineering Applied Science, Douglas Engelbart's NLS system at SRI International in Menlo Park, California, University of California at Santa Barbara, and the University of Utah were interconnected into one network.
Among less irritating devices Mp3 player and remote control received the least number of votes.
Hence, it is appropriate to note that everything has a reverse side of the medal. That is why every invention in this list can be considered from different points of view, both positive and negative. Therefore, not every invention that bring up pleasure for its users and scientific progress is not appreciated entirely.
