Invisible Dog Fence - How Effective Are They At Containing A Dog?

By:

An invisible dog fence is exactly that, it is invisible, you cannot touch it see it or feel it. But it does a good job at keeping your dog in the backyard. The purpose of the invisible dog fence is so that you can safely allow your pet to play in an area which you choose.

Typically, the invisible dog fence is used in a couple of situations. The first one is if you have a dog that just loves to escape from your garden or backyard. A dog that finds holes in the fence, digs underneath it or learns new climbing skills and scales the fence. If you have one of these dogs then it is extremely difficult preventing it from escaping. What can you do, you can go out and spend many hundreds of dollars on security fences, which are very high, they have to go underground and can ruin your vista.

The 2nd scenario is if you want to restrict your dog from a certain part of your yard, for example, if your dog has a favorite place where it likes to go to toilet and it is killing your lawn or you may want to restrict your dog's movements to a specific part of your backyard. If you like taking vacations with your dog then a wireless fence must be an essential piece of equipment to take with you. You can create an instant fence, set it to cover an area from 30 to 180 feet, you strap the receiver collar to your pet's neck and within a couple of minutes your dog can go and run around on its own.

The only trouble with the invisible dog fence is recognizing where the boundary is! The way it works is that you have a transmitter which sends out a radio signal or you have a wire buried underground which denotes the boundary. The dog wears an electronic collar and when it approaches the boundary the collar receives a signal and emits an audible warning bleep. Should your dog not turn back, and gets even closer to the invisible dog fence then the electronic collar will deliver a soft electric shock. This is designed to get your dog's attention and deter him from crossing the boundary.

To aid in the training of your dog, a number of flags come with the invisible dog fence. You plant these boundary flags equally spaced out around the edge of the border, they will associate the flags with the boundary after the training and will know not to go beyond that point. You do not need any previous experience in training your dog as the invisible dog fence comes with detailed training, plus tips and advice.
