Internet Home Businesses Goal Setting, Define Long Term Goals

By:

Internet Home Businesses need to accurately define long-term goals if they want to get the greatest return for the time they invest. This step, defining long-term goals really sets your business up for getting ahead of the curve, and then staying there. Unless you are one of the rare people who are set up exactly the way they want to be, are getting exactly the right results for the effort expended, then the way to get on track is to get this activity under control. The number one reason Internet Home Businesses fail, is the same reason the rest of us fail, is that they, we lack the ability to get ahead of the curve. Let me explain.

Getting ahead of the curve means you are the one who is setting the Agenda, you are the one who is getting everyone else, and everything else, to react to you, not the other way around. Just to be sure we are all on the same page, being the one who is setting the Agenda, being the driver instead of the passenger, these are all really good things for you.

If you are the one who is dictating the pace and content of what is going on around you, this means that what is important to you is getting done, BEFORE anyone else, or anything else, gets in there and takes over the high ground. As we know, the high ground is always a good place to be.

Back to getting ahead of the curve. There is a huge difference between getting hit with an avalanche of work when you do not expect it compared to the same situation and you know its coming, you are prepared for it, and it is not a surprise, that's the difference between being ahead of the curve, and the curve hitting you over the head. Internet Home Businesses need to be ahead of the curve to avoid being blindsided and getting pushed off their Agenda.

Define Long Term Goals

Once again, what does long term mean? Is something you want to do a week from today count as long term, how about 2 weeks, or a month? Categorizing goals in terms of long term versus short term is important to us for this reason. We are constantly under pressure, usually pressure put on by ourselves, to divvy up and dole out our limited time, effort and resources. That is what life is all about. What , among the many many things we want to do, which precious few, will get the sought after, but limited resources, time and effort is the struggle we have every day.

When you think about it, does this not describe what we go through each day? I don't know about you, but my to do list, wish list, goal list, my PLLL, has far more in there, than I will ever have the time to do, and I hope I have about another half life to live. Based with this massive overload, I have to decide, daily, what gets the time, and what gets dumped, either dumped short term, dumped back into my PLLL, maybe to resurface, and what does not make the grade, gets dumped, forever.

Having a category of long-term goals, allows us some breathing room, allows us to have it as a goal, but also allows us to say, I will get to you, sometime down the road. Internet Home Businesses need to catch their breath; they need to recharge their batteries, and having goals set up long term, allows everyone to do this.

I am not going to set some artificial time frame on what long-term means that should be up to each individual. What I do suggest is this though, if you find that a certain goal is continually being pushed back and back, you should realize that what you are pushing back and back is not a goal, but a wish.
