Good news is, that most internet business entrepreneurs run small operations and get their income from many small sources. Compared to the big internet business gorillas, which have big market shares, these tiny operations are more in safe.

Luckily the Internet is not like the traditional local market. It is much more flexible and offers a lot of growing markets also during the recession. The challenge is to start to think like a global marketer and to see the recession as an opportunity rather than a threat.

1. Change Your Traditional Focus.

The markets which will be in trouble, or they already are, are US, Europe and Japan. These countries or areas simply have too much debt, they have to cut spending, hope they can, which cuts the market growth. It is clear, that most submarkets inside these three will suffer. And what is worse, the economic sentiment will become worse.

But have you thought, how simple it is to change the target market in the Internet marketing? Even by using the English language. When you do the keyword research, you can take certain markets alone, where you see further growth. Or you can traget your PPC campaign to these countries alone.

2. Which Countries Will Continue To Grow?

A simple answer is, the developing countries. Their markets have not been so saturated, because there has been so much organic growth. BRIC is the magic term, meaning Brasil, Russia, India and China. For instance India alone offers a huge English speaking population and there the internet usage grows strongly. Why not to target them?

3. Use Lots Of Keywords.

Another opportunity, which you can use together with your new country focus, is to use lots of related keywords, rather the long tail ones, in your optimization. If your favorite big keyword loses its traffic building ability, the others will fill the gap.

4. Focus On The Newbie Market.

One segment inside the internet business market, which cannot decrease are the newbies. The newbies, the first time people, are always curios to start. Talk to them as a part of the recession opportunity strategy. Most of them do not connect the recession and their tiny business and they keep there sentiment high.

5. Use Several Offers.

If most of your sales come from a few keywords, from one country and with one product, this is a real risk. During the recession people seek for the deals, special offers.Use special offers together with a wide sortiment of products. Then the collapse of one product does not hurt the business so much.
