Interior House Painting Tips

How do the pro painters get the job done so quickly? They have a system that they use on every single job to get through it quickly and efficiently and without a mess. It can look quite impressive to the casual onlooker. If you are painting yourself, you might be trying to imagine what the end result will look like, given your walls and the colour you want to put on them. You have probably gone to a lot of paint stores and other places to get ideas about paint colour, products, and tools of the trade.

Paint store clerks will talk to you about the different types of paints that would be available for various types of applications such as bedrooms and living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. They inform you about the shine, or sheen, levels of paints from flat finish to shiny finish and where they would use them. Due to advancements in technology and research, paint has been getting a lot better these days. The benefit of this is that you can go to a flat, or mat paint that is still very durable for many applications, but of course you pay for the quality of the paint. Not all paints are washable, even if they say so on the label! In a cheaper line of paint, sometimes its necessary to go to a shinier paint to make it more washable. The higher-end paints are made with better materials, and therefore more washable at lower gloss.

Abraham Lincoln, it is written, said that if he were given 8 hours to cut down a tree, he would sharpen his axe for 7 of those hours. If you are new to painting, you must plan ahead; This is very important because each step in painting a room is affected by the previous step, and it can get out of hand fast if certain steps are done poorly or missed altogether. From this point you will be able to decide where to have your tool station and what you're going to have stored in your tool station for the various tasks that you will be performing.

Always allow for a fair amount of time to do your preparation work. You now will grab a drop cloth. Put it under the place you're going to repair. Here now you will do your preparation work scraping sanding etc. The drop-off will protect the floor underneath. If you want to avoid paint drops, do this throughout the whole house until all your prep work is done. Prep work should not be hurried up because this is the basis of a good paint job.

Painting is a skill which takes practice to do well, but if you are painting for the first time, masking tape can be a great friend. Just be sure to use tape well, and smooth out the edge with your thumb to minimize paint dripping through. Professional painters have years of practice with a brush which allows them to actually be faster cutting freehand than by using tape in most situations.

Pros work fast because they have done the necessary prep steps hundreds of times; they have it down to a science. It looks like they don't do much prep because it goes very fast, but in fact they do whats needed. If you decide to paint yourself, you lose time by having to learn as you go, so the key to success is to slow it down and get it right.
