Intensity Optics Scopes - Are They A Decent Option?

Intensity Optics is a subsidiary organization of Federal, which is a key US ammunition supplier. Federal is owned and operated by ATK, an global aerospace and defense holding organization. ATK owns a number of sports brand names and businesses such as Federal Ammunition, Speer, Champion, and Eagle Industries to name a few. In addition to the Intensity Optics line, ATK also owns the Simmons and Weaver Optics brand names of rifle scopes.

Primarily based out of Onalaska, WI, Intensity Optics was started in early 2007 and had it's first rifle scope product available on the market by mid-2007. Ever since then, Intensity Optics has silently acquired a foothold within the more affordable scope selling prices of $75 to $125. This is a market that also has popular companies such as Simmons, the now defunct Tasco, Barska, and NCStar.

Although the actual facts are not known, the Intensity Optics scopes are believed to be created within the same Philippines manufacturing facility that makes the Simmons line, and some of the less costly Nikon scope series. Many seasoned hunters and shooters compare the Intensity Optics series to the older, discontinued Simmons 44 Mag brand of rifle scopes. A side by side assessment appears to affirm that line of thinking since the Intensities appear to be a rebadged 44 Mag scope. This is a good thing since the Simmons 44 Mag series was highly sought after for it's cost and level of performance.It was among Simmons most productive scope styles.

At the time of this writing, Intensity Optics was producing 5 styles inside the following configurations:

2.8-10x44mm
3-10x44mm
3.8-12x44mm AO
4-12x44mm AO
6.5-20x44mm AO

Only the 2.8-10 and 3-10 versions don't feature an adjustable objective. There has also been some suggestions from ATK that they could possibly extend the Intensity Optics line in the future to add some additional configurations.
