Inspirational Speeches Make Others Think

By:

If we were asked to name someone inspirational we would probably all choose a well known figure like Nelson Mandela or Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Yet any one of us can be inspirational and, either by our actions or our words, inspire others. Giving an inspirational speech is one way of inspiring people to lead a new life or to be different in some way.
Such as speech should, of course, come from the heart. You have to be convinced yourself before you can convince others. Your words must be encouraging and awaken a response in those listening to you. You could, for instance, speak so glowingly of the rewards of helping out in your local football club that others may decide to give up their free time to help you in teaching youngster to play. If you spoke of the challenges of being a missionary in the third world you might inspire others to take up that challenge too.
So an inspirational speech has to call to the hearts of your listeners. It has to arouse their feelings and provoke them to want to emulate you in some way. You can motivate people to do things but you inspire them to be different and what you do is a result of that inspiration.
Students hope to be inspired when they see their exam papers. A good, teacher, though will have been so inspirational that they have studied hard for that exam. A priest might give such an inspiring sermon on drink that an alcoholic would give up his drinking. A mother may give an inspirational speech to a troublesome son or daughter and thus ensure that they change their way of life.
An inspirational speaker might touch the imagination or stimulate debate that leads to change. He or she may be the cause of an awaking to a talent or skill. That speaker with his or her own enthusiasm may spur someone on to do something worthwhile or to be someone special. He or she may be the stimulus for a wonderful wakening of conscience or ability.
Personal examples really add to an inspirational speech. If you can describe what a difference, say prayer, has meant to you life, you may inspire others too to pray. The best evangelists are all inspirational. A good speaker can inspire people to change their thinking and their whole way of life.
