Innovative String Lights - Best For Screened Porch

We are all familiar with festoon lights - strings lights used around the holidays. They highlight outdoor venues, like circuses, and also bistro patios and gatherings underneath tents. They are low cost, and practical.

They would be perfect with this relaxed, industrial style home. string lights are not the same thing as low voltage cable light bulbs, which are not designed for outdoors, and can be more expensive than ten times as much.

String lights are simple to install: While doing the electrical wiring procedure, three outlets were being installed on top of the wall at intervals across room or space. The outlets were attached to a switch, so the lights can be turned on easily. During the finishing phase, ordinary wire was connected to eye screws in the wall structure. At one end, the eye screws were close to the outlets, making sure that the light string will be plugged in. Three strands of average gauge wire were attached to the eye screws and pulled tight across the area.

We initially tried a package of little miniature lights on one of any wires, but did not like the tangled green electric wire that came with lights. It was too visible. So we took those back and got three containers of mid size bulb Christmas lights. These came with more simple electric wire and bigger bulbs. They were named C-7's. You can find C-9's if you want bigger bulbs. There are various bulb styles and sizes out there, all the way up to typical sized bulbs.

Each bulb has a little clip in order that it can be hung on the twine. We spaced the lamps out, and then pulled the strand hard. This brand of light strand can be take off, so there was no excess towards the end. When the strand is cut, you will need some black electrician's tape in order to seal the end.

As soon as the light strings are already turned on we had a nice surprise. The lighting effects was beautifully diffused all the way through the room. It turned out to be so soft and diffused that it seemed like moonlight. Strings of small lights have a distinct ambiance - they remind us of celebrations and festive moments. It was entertaining to re-interpret this familiar lighting preference for daily use.
